Nominees standing for 2022 Executive & General Committee. Each nominee was asked why they would like to be on committee, and what they could bring to the Roo Theatre Company if successful in their nomination. All nominees are current financial members, and their nominations have been supported by current financial members of RTC.

I am committed to achieving the best for the company. I have many skills and attributes that benefit Roo and I’m keen to continue in a leadership capacity. I have the proven ability to lead the committee and am able to commit a lot of my time to ensuring Roo continues to remain a strong presence in the local theatre community.
I have immense knowledge of Roo as a company. I have time to commit to ensuring Roo remains a successful part of the local theatre community. I have received formal theatre training & have experience in all aspects of putting together theatre productions.

MEGAN COLLINS
I would like to nominate for the role of Costumes Co-Ordinator/supervisor. I’ve enjoyed costuming a number of shows at Roo and would like to work with the executive to see Roo Theatre flourish.
My time and energy in helping to keep the costume side of the theatre running smoothly and keep the shed well maintained.

As someone who has been with Roo since 2018 and worked hard for the company, I believe I have the necessary skills and knowledge of the company to ensure we bring something fresh to the company while respecting the original foundations.
A young and fresh perspective with a huge love and respect for the culture and aesthetics of Roo.

CHRIS FRASER
To take an active role in the future direction of Roo Theatre Company. I have been involved with Roo for numerous years, and have assisted most production with set construction and deconstruction.
Elite dancing skills and a level headed decision making approach based on merit not personality.

JOSHUA HANNELLY
I have a background in law, policy and procedure - and would like to take an active role in assisting the Roo Theatre with business ethic moving forward and securing tenure for the company.
I could bring a different perspective to Roo as I am not theatrically inclined, and would assist making decisions for the best interest of the theatre company.

For the past 30 years I have remained loyal to Roo, having being mentored by the late founder Gordon Streek. In 2010 I returned to the Roo and became a tutor, then Artistic Director, and now General Manager. I have thought of letting go and moving on many times, however Roo is where my heart is, and I believe I still have a LOT to offer.
I bring a sense of professionalism, experience, and dedication to Roo. With a credit list to boot, of both on stage and offstage stints, I have watched people come through these doors and stay loyal for years on end. My reputation within the Illawarra Theatre Scene is high, and over the past 10 years I have become the face of Roo (not entirely by choice). I constantly refer to Roo as a family, and playing a fatherly role to so many is something I cherish, now and forever. I believe the Roo requires a certain type of flair, and I can definitely continue bringing that to performers, production teams, volunteers, and most importantly - the people that keep Roo going, our Patrons.

RHIANNON SIMPSON
I believe I have the creative experience, organisational and communicative skills to positively impact RTC and the journey the company is on for the future. I have some big ideas that I hope to bring forward and see come to life to breathe that extra bit of magic back into the Illawarra Theatre scene. I have been involved with Roo for over a decade, spending more time than not, holding some form of committee position. I work well in groups and can delegate to those who can do things with greater skill.
I think I can not only bring my talent for on stage but also my behind the scenes eye for detail. I have had the pleasure of being involved in and off the stage in almost 30 productions across the Illawarra and I have learnt so much from so many talented individuals along the way.
Plus, Roo is home for me.

As someone who believes in supporting and enhancing the younger generations, I believe having younger faces on the committee is exactly what is needed to bring Roo into the next generation.
I can bring a whole new world of technology and enhancements to Roo. Having a major in film and projections I can bring new technology and new ways to make the overall feeling of Roo something fresh and brand new
